More Trumpets

With the onset of warmer, summer-like weather, the greenery is starting to get out-of-bounds. Suckers are coming up around the back porch steps. Weedy things are growing better than our garden. I saw this viney thing growing on the east side of our shed, and kept thinking, "I need to cut that down along with all the other weedy things."

I knew we had this going on - a trumpet vine (more like a bush) that, when we moved in a couple or so years ago, was growing around a sort of wooden seat decoration. After we removed the seat eyesore, this has become one big bush of trumpet blooms. Wild, untamed, but beautiful blooms!

But last night, while watering the garden, I got a surprise. That "weedy-looking vine-tree" turned out to be another trumpet vine!

With the trademark deep-orange, trumpet-shaped bloom clusters.

So I think I'll keep it. :)

  1. Once you have those I hear, you never get rid of them. I got a cutting from my M I L a couple years ago. .it stays small cause I put it way out back, and never remember to water it. .but I think it will be big enough to muster a bloom or two this year. .can't wait. Bet the hummers LOVE those!! Keep an eye on it!

  2. Oh, that would be neat if I could see a hummer around them! So far, only hornets. :(
