Father's Day and Anniversary

(Mom and Dad in Colorado one time when we were on a trip.)

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there! Even in memory, I love my Dad. He was a great combination of wisdom and wit. And lots of common sense. A hilarious sense of humor. He was my ally in this ol' world. I miss him, but am so thankful he was my DAD.

Also, today would've been Mom and Dad's wedding anniversary. They were married in 1943. They were married 56 years before Mom passed away. They had a special thing in later years, where EACH MONTH on the 19th, they'd go out for some kind of treat ... a meal out, or snack, or something. I was so immersed in that as well, that I STILL pay attention to when it's "the 19th," and feel I have to make a trip to Sonic or something! I'm so thankful for my parents - they were human as anyone is, and our family had its ups-and-downs like every family does. But I loved them both, and still do in memory. I'm thankful for Christian faith to believe I'll see them again someday, in the presence of the Lord.

  1. That's a neat idea about doing something nice each month! Something to think about. I still have a cool metal crafted buggy that your dad gave to me not long after I started working at the clinic. He made it himself and it sits on the shelf in my office!! He was a real sweetheart for sure!
