This shows the wheat growing into wonderful, green lushness; some white fence (cheap at wally world); and an inkling of a rocked-in area I'm toying with. The flat, pink rock pieces were buried in front of the house, as if there used to be a flower bed there. I uncovered these soon after we moved in, that was over 2 years ago. They've just been lounging around our front step. Now I might actually find a use for them! (There are more waiting to be pried out of the ground.)
Then I marked the west edge with the spade, and started digging that side. Don't mind the slight curve - it's a challenge to look side-to-side for straightness when you're wearing bifocals!
Beautiful day to be out - a fair chance of rain tonight and tomorrow. I wouldn't doubt it with these thick-looking clouds floating in. It just has that look and feel that it might rain.
One row on the west edge done. Then it will be cultivated to get the grass/roots out. Then continue spading and cultivating until the whole garden area is done.
And I just can't get over this beautiful wheat!!! I am LOVING having it in our garden!!!
I intend to get some more of this fence, hopefully it will at least *discourage* the armadillos and other critters.
we got a nice rain today and I wondered if your little wheat crop was getting rain too.
ReplyDeleteWe had a bit of rain last night, so I'm sure that will help! We've really needed the moisture around here.
ReplyDeleteIt feels nice to get your fingers back in the dirt, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteYes, Becky, and I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would! I've always considered myself a very NON-green thumb person. :)
