The photo above is from my hometown in Kansas. The reason I'm including it is for the American flag that's flying. The American flag flies in a lot of places every day. Do people in general think when they see it, concerning all it represents?
My younger son and I had an interesting experience today. We had to get some things from Wally World, so went there after we ate dinner. As we went in, we noticed a bunch of young men around a bake sale table out front. I thought I heard one say they were a music group. So when we left, we had to stop and buy some goodies, since I used to be a music major! So after that, we strolled on out with our cart to go to our car. Suddenly, about halfway to our car, we heard them singing. Not just any old song - it was the National Anthem - "The Star-Spangled Banner." They faced the nearby flying American flag as they sang. I stopped Jonathan, and we stood at attention, and I couldn't help but put my hand over my heart and sing along. A few others scattered in the parking lot also stopped at attention. Others kept walking. When these young men were done singing, I went back and let them know how nice that was for them to do that.
So no matter what-all is going on in this country, for a few moments, in a parking lot, on a cloudy-dreary-drizzly Oklahoma day, a few human beings remembered the goodness, and expressed it and stood (up) for it.
