Windy

Yesterday was Veterans Day, and I wish to convey heartfelt thanks to all veterans for their service, and say, "God bless."

The day before, we recognized veterans at our lunchtime, and also enjoyed a special cake to show thanks and appreciation for their service.

Yesterday was a day off, so I took the dog out for a walk, though it was terribly, terribly windy. (They had blizzard conditions up in NW Kansas!) Here she is, posing and squinting in the wind.

The BIG cottonwood tree was swooshing in the wind, and starting to hint at turning colors.

Golden leaves gathering on the ground.

They were tenaciously sticking to the grass, even in the windy blast.

Luscious green grass growing under the arena grandstand seats - in November. That may not last long! It's been pretty frosty the last morning or so.

Leaves whirling across the arena road ....

.... wheeeeee!!!!

Please note the beautiful emerald-colored strip of green winter wheat in the distance. Gorgeous.

Grasses bending in the wind.

Curious horses looking on as I obsessively take pictures of grass and leaves.

We came around by the livestock barn at the fairgrounds. It was slightly protected there, so it seemed "quiet" as compared to being out in the blasting wind. I stood there for a good while, just listening to the wind make the barn "creak" a little now and then, or the tin flap a little. Almost seemed like a little oasis. Then we went on back to the house, where it really was out of the wind. It was nice to sit and knit and look OUT at it!
