Was sorting through a recipe notebook last night, and came across this that I'd wrote down and kept. Very interesting, in light of the recent laundry situation! ha ha Yes, I count my blessings like it says at the end, and we're managing. Things will work out. :)

1. Build fire in back yard to heat kettle of rainwater.
2. Set tubs so smoke won't blow in eyes if wind is pert.
3. Shave one whole cake of lye soap in biling water.
4. Sort things. Make three piles: one pile whites, one pile colored, one pile work britches and rags.
5. Stir flour in cold water to smooth, then thin down with biling water.
6. Rub dirty spots on board, scrub hard, then bile; rub colored but don't bile, just wrench and starch.
7. Spread tea towels on grass.
8. Hand [hang] old rags on fence.
9. Pour wrench water on flower beds.
10. Scrub porch with hot, soapy water.
11. Turn tubs upside down.
12. Go put on clean dress, smooth hair with side combs, brew a cup of tea, set and rest and rock a spell, and count your blessings.
Cleanliness is next to Godliness....bless you and I am just sure things will work themselves out....My dryer has been on the blink for over 2 years and I use a yardstick to keep the door shut....It is a real pain in the you know what....but...I have a clothesline and love the smell of them hanging out..plus I can not and will not worry about it ....cause I have had more than one new purse in that time and that money could have gone towards a dryer....after all...I NEED a new purse way more than I need a new dryer....Now if that darn thing gives it up complete...lee.... I may be singing a different tune....till then....I need to go change purses....
