Disaster

My sewing machine broke. I was sewing older Son's curtains, and the bobbin messed up big time. When I took the bobbin out, the little mechanism it fits into came out with it. I couldn't get it back in. A piece of it broke off.

Found this at Wally World, and hope it might be worth something, at least temporarily. If nothing else, and adventure in unusual sewing! Then I hope to get an inexpensive machine just for "sewing and mending," and be able to dive back into things full-speed again.

  1. I was neverr much of a sewer then when I started weaving for myself, I thought I better invest in a new machine as I was sewing a lot and the hubby had this old thing that was hard for me to get the hang of using. To bad yours broke, maybe you can look for a new one on the internet.

  2. oh dear! when my machine down, I almost feel like I am missing an arm.
I hope you can find another "real" one, I am not too optimistic that the little hand one will be a suitable substitute.

start looking at yard sales, maybe just mention at your church group -who knows, there just might be a machine waiting for you in someones closet.
    I sure hope so!

  3. Thank you both for your encouragement!

Lisa, you weave? I've always wanted to do that! (Not counting the little square kids' looms that make potholders. LOL)

LOL Rhonda, I'm not too optimistic about this little bitty one either, I haven't even gotten the nerve to take it out of the box yet!

  4. I'm so glad it was just you're sewing machine and not your house. Was worried about you when I heard about the ok tornados the other night. Glad life is good

  5. Thanks for being concerned Melanie - it was all over east of us. I was in Weatherford and could see clouds starting to pop up over east, and sure enough, it really got with it over there. But we STILL need rain badly!

  6. This is a tragedy!! I don't know if I would have been able to see the bright side like you have. Good luck with the new machine!

  7. Believe me, Sara, I was heartbroke! Still am - Mom bought me that machine. :( I'm hoping I can find a replacement part for that bobbin thingy. Until then, we'll see what happens with these other things. :)

  8. Hey Rhonda! Sorry about your machine! I'm bummed--I've been missing your posts and thought you just hadn't been blogging, but they just haven't been showing up in my feed or I've been missing them. So I'm catching up on your posts!
Anyways, hope your machine gets up and running soon!
