Hmmmm ....
For literaly YEARS, I've used a "Texas" beach towel folded in half to cover my sewing machine when not in use. Not a thing against Texas, but I've gotten pretty tired of that towel, plus it didn't keep all the dust out in this dry country. So ... enter the sunflower fabric you see above.
I got these sunflower prints a long, long, long time ago, and tried making a pieced block out of them, but it ended up 'way too busy! So I put it away, and really didn't know what to do with the fabric. Well, I got a bright idea to finally replace the beach towel. Very simple, primitive sewing, but hey, it serves its purpose, and that's all that matters to me. Plus, I can enjoy seeing sunflowers! (My home state's state flower.)
Here's the finished cover.
I put slightly rounded corners on the top, so it wouldn't look *quite* so boxy. I had flashbacks of the double axe-head pieces! Yikes!
So the towel will get laundered and put to another use, and the sewing machine (and I) can enjoy a cheerful, new cover.
Great work!! You killed two birds with one stone!! Can't wait to see how your garden grows!
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you, Melanie, this gardening stuff is addictive once things actually start growing! It's fascinating to see how various plants and things turn out. And with my "non-green thumbs," it's encouraging that things actually ARE growing. LOL :)
