Explosion of GREEN

Our little "test plot" of wheat has stayed green all through the winter. We planted it a little later (though you can plant still through the winter), on October 25. So it hasn't been as thick as if you would potentially pasture it.

The last picture I took of the wheat was earlier this month, when we had some snow. It was still in its "sparse" stage, though good and green yet. We had been needing moisture BADLY.

Now, we've had two fairly decent snows. Even though it wasn't a whole lot, it was enough to hopefully jump-start things. PLUS, after the snows, we had some nice, sunny, mild days.

Guess what that does for wheat?

Moisture + sun + nitrogen in the snow = lush, green, growing wheat!

What's this I see peeking over the straw bales?

Ooo-ooo .... the wheat's getting thicker!

Just look at that nice, green color. (This row looks like a big, green caterpillar!)

Stay tuned - spring's on it's way, and the wheat's off and running!
