So given where we're located, and that we've had mild temps for a day or two, and a good dose of rain (for which we're thankful!), I shouldn't be surprised to see the following. But, good grief, it's DECEMBER!
A closeup of volunteer lettuce coming up from what I planted last spring!
Several spots of lettuce.
The alley and the neighbor's yard to our south is sporting bright green grass.
After the rain system moved on out this morning, there were THUNDERCLOUDS off in the southeast. You can kind of see some puffiness in the distance beyond the elevator bin, but you could see a regular, big-ol' thunderhead earlier when we were out in open country.
Given that my arms get cold easily, this says a lot when I'm outside in T-shirt sleeves!
Younger Son poking around in the garden, finding all kinds of things. He told me about the lettuce, plus he found little toadstools. Not surprising with the rain and dampness we've had lately.
We've got the bird feeder going for the winter - have seen cardinals, plus little brown birds. More bright green grass in the neighboring yard to the west.
Its crazy, isn't it? We have patches of green grass. More than we did in the middle of the heat wave this summer! AND I have poppies coming up and doing really well! Poor confused things!
ReplyDeleteWe got at least an inch of rain yesterday, and I am not complaining after the long hot dry summer.
ReplyDeleteI took granddaughter with me to do a few errands this morning, very pleasant weather!
and you know it will be something else in the forecast soon.
I actually found FLOWERS blooming yesterday!! If I hadn't been so blessed swamped, I would have nabbed my camera and took their pictures. .50 or more little blue flowers on some groundcover that I planted. I just laughed!! One year I had morning glories blooming until the first week in December. .I loved that too!! Enjoy your mild weather. .we may be cursing it soon enough!
ReplyDeleteWow, Becky, poppies? That's funny! I'll bet that's a bright spot in the midst of brown grass and bare trees. :)
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Rhonda, I'm not complaining about any rain that falls! That summer was awful.
Enjoyed hearing about your flowers, too, Melanie! Yeah, I think we have more good-ol' COLD weather coming next week.
