At the thrift store the other day, among a bunch of bargains, these two things were favorites - a kitchen towel with a crocheted hanger (I wish I could make these!), and a "quilted" wall hanging with a friendship saying on it. The towel has tulips on it, and makes me think of Mom. She always had gobs of tulips planted in the back yard!
Here's a closeup of the saying: "A true friend listens with her heart, warms you with her presence, and remembers you in her prayers."
An update of the "knitted dishcloth project" --- I only had enough red-and-white yarn to do 3/4 of the dishcloth! So I will use that one here at home for myself. Meanwhile, I got a fresh skein of red-and-white yarn and started another one, and will SURELY have enough for a whole one this time. :) And yes, I still know where this one is going to go as a gift. :)
Plus, I started one in yellow! Thanks so much to Deb on her "Homespun Living" blog, for sharing this neat pattern!

We were all out and about today, and looked around various places. Our older son had earned some money by helpling with harvest, and wanted to buy ME something for a change. Isn't that wonderful? :) So I desperately needed (AND wanted) a bobbin winder, so that I could get to sewing again. (The one on my machine went KA-PUT.) So this will put my project-making in high gear! Thank you, Son!
At the John Deere place, they had all kinds of fun things, not just machinery parts. I saw a "gift bag" for not very much, and had an idea, "That would be the right size to carry knitting projects along in the car - just grab it and go!" So it now has a new home and a new purpose. "John Deere knitting bag to go."
Y'all have a great rest of the week, and weekend coming up!
cute stuff - I like to take handwork with me too.
ReplyDeleteWell ... hubby & I might be out, and he'll go in some place to talk to someone a minute, which turns into MORE than a minute (LOL), and I hate just sitting there! :) So now it'll be easier to have something along.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all have been busy!! Love the old wall hanging!! Neat saying too--got it hung up yet??
ReplyDeleteNot yet, but I'm looking for "just the right place." :)
