[This is the first story I put on paper when I started a notebook of just "remembering stuff." The title should probably read "An Early School Morning." I hated getting up early in the mornings. Since Younger Son has started public high school just this week after a round of a few years of home schooling, I thought this was appropriate to share, with our having to get up EARLY, eat, dress, get ready for the bus, etc.]
The story:
I seem to remember a VERY early school morning once, maybe kindergarten? First grade? Second grade? And for some reason, it might have been the first day of school for the year. It was surely late summer or early fall.
I was up really early. It was still dark out. It was raining. It was thundering, with that far-off, rumbly sound. That all just stuck in my mind for some reason ... the early morning, the darkness, the rumbling ...

I have to say that I know how you feel. I am glad the kids are in college and can get themselves up!
