Dog Siblings

At the ag supply store where Older Son works, they have a "pet adoption day" every so often, sponsored by the local pet shelter. We got "Tiny Girl" through such an event last July. Today was another one. I had to go over to the store for an errand for Son, and while there, saw all the dogs and cats available. Then, I saw Tiny Girl's sister there, "Blackie."

Now when we got Tiny Girl, she was in a pen in the front lobby with Blackie. They were fine, and getting along OK. Blackie tended to want to jump up on us, and we didn't care for that. So Tiny was a little more mellow, and had a nice coloring that we liked (that brindle gray scattered around through her black coat), so we chose her.

When I saw Blackie today, it was fun to see the resemblance between her and Tiny Girl. I pet her, and she was friendly. So I decided to go back home and get Tiny Girl, and bring her over and see if they recognized each other. Older Son said that she was a *#@&!, and he wanted nothing to do with it. (His way of saying, "I wouldn't do that if I were you!") But I had to try, so off I went to go get Tiny Girl.

We walked in the store, and some other dogs were by the door, they were all sniffing and getting along alright. Then, here came Blackie being walked by a helper. Tiny and Blackie sniffed each other, sniffed noses .... then it all blew up. Blackie bared her teeth, snarled, barked real mean, and was NOT friendly at all!!! Tiny Girl responded with "WOOF!! WOOF WOOF!!" So we got them backed away from each other and called that a lesson learned.

I guess even when she and Tiny were together, and lately for just Blackie, there's been a problem with another dog being "domineering." So maybe this has something to do with it. I guess Blackie was adopted out, then brought back. I sure hope she can find a good "forever home" that suits her.

MEANWHILE, here are a few pics of our dear dog who couldn't be a better match for this crazy, silly family! ---

Tiny Girl posing by a hay bale:

One of her favorite positions - curled on the couch asleep. HA!

And again!

Eyeing the neighbors' chicken across the road, that got out. GOOD THING SHE WAS ON A LEASH. The animal shelter people, when we first got her, filled us in on the little tidbit that she HAD CHASED CHICKENS.

Out on a walk:

She LOVES to "sniff trails:"

The day we got her - 7-14-2012 - you can see the brindle gray fur that we liked, and now it is almost all gone!

"Will you teach me to run the computer?"

A favorite spot - curled up next to one of us on the couch:

"Buddies:"

She's nearly as long as the couch when she stretches out:

"Cute snoot:"

"Alright ... who put this THING here???"

This is how you climb down off the couch gracefully and ladylike:

And now, we'll leave you with this parting shot: :)
