Colorful Blooms

Mom would've been 89 today. She's been gone twelve years now. I sure do miss her, and love her still. She liked her flowers and yard, and was always trying to get something to grow. Where we lived, though, it was "gyp" dirt, and she had a struggle! But she still tried, and ended up with a pretty good variety of stuff in the yard. This picture is of Mom back in spring of 1990 (I think, either '89 or '90)at my cousin's wedding.



Thinking of Mom and things that bloom, here's what's going on in our yard at the moment. Spring and warmth came early, so as a result, the Redbuds have recently bloomed. This photo is from about a week and a half ago. Now the blooms are almost all gone and replaced by leaves coming out.



The nearby Locust trees are now blooming.



My plants got a good drink of rain water yesterday. There are three Geraniums (red, white, and the peach one is in the midst of blooming), and some purple Petunias. These will all get replanted into a big pot soon, to set by our front step.
