The Two Punch Bowls

After yesterday's post, I got to thinking on some things, and remembered this:

Before I was married (but still an adult and with my folks), we all went to an anniversary celebration for some friends of ours on their ranch. It was really nice, and lots of people visiting out in the yard, etc. There was a table in the yard with goodies and two kinds of punch for folks to enjoy. A line of trees along the south side of the yard provided some nice shade to sit under and relax.

We arrived, greeted our friends, and went by the refreshment table. Mom was ahead of me and got some things and some red punch. I got some things and some of the white punch. We sat down in the shade to enjoy our food and drink.

Drink is right. Mom took a sip of her punch, and ... she felt like it might've been spiked. I sipped my own, it was O.K. I sipped hers ... ummmm ... yeah, I thought so, too!

Here's the thing - this couple absolutely did not drink alcohol. He was vehement against it. So it was really odd to think that this happened at their anniversary party. Somebody was naughty!
