August

It.

Is.

Hot.

*SCORCH*

There's something I dread every year: the heat of August. It's a regular oven! You only have to LOOK outside and you wilt. It's too hot even by 10 a.m.

August means school will start. As homeschoolers, we usually start things off in August, but for various reasons, this year we're going to start right after Labor Day at the first part of September.

Our local fair is coming up in just over two weeks. It's always fun, but .... it can be HOT. Many times in recent years, we've had bad thunderstorms during the fair. One time it was a remnant of a hurricane and we flooded like crazy all over the state! So no telling if this sizzling heat will continue and make us miserable through the fair (which is often the case), or maybe something will help it cool down somewhat and make it bearable. Already thinking of iced drinks from the FFA concession stand!

Stay cool, everyone!

  2. I think it has been unbelievably hot--here too! Some of my plants are suffering terribly--and I have seen SOOO many birds of different variety this week in my waterfall--that they must be suffering a little too!! But that part has been fun for me!! Grant even spotted a little hummer yesterday trying out my new feeder! Stay cool!!
